raises cash reserve ratio to curb inflation
【New Delhi】Seeking to
arrest inflation, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has hiked the Cash Reserve
Ratio of scheduled banks by 75 basis points from 5.0 per cent to 5.75 per cent
of their net demand and time liabilities (NDTL) in two stages in its third
quarter review of Monetary Policy for 2009-10.
RBI also increased the baseline projection for Wholesale Price Inflation for
end-March 2010 to 8.5 per cent from the 6.5 per cent projection made in the
October 2009 review.
