◆経済協力が日印関係の基礎：日印首脳会議
【ニューデリー】このほど訪印した鳩山由紀夫首相は１２月２９日、Manmohan Singh首相と『第４回日印首脳会議』を催した。共同声明によると、核協力問題に関して両国はその立場を少しも変えることはなかったが、両首脳は意見の相違を確認しあった。シン首相は会議後、経済協力こそが日印関係の基盤であると指摘するとともに、両首脳が包括的経済協力協定(CEPA:Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement)を加速することで合意したことを明らかにした。

【New Delhi】The fourth annual
summit between the Prime Ministers of India and Japan, which took place in New
Delhi on December 29, was an unqualified success, according to the Joint
Statement. Neither India nor Japan budged an inch from their stand on the
nuclear cooperation issue but both the countries acknowledged their
differences. Describing the economic partnership as the "bedrock" of
India-Japan relations, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the two
countries have decided to expedite negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic
Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

project is expected to accelerate the bilateral trade and investment linkages
between the two countries in a big way, says a joint statement issued by Prime

has come into force, in a memorandum issued on February 3 to U.S. Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton, as mandated by the U.S.-India Nuclear Cooperation
Approval and Non-proliferation Enhancement Act regarding the safeguard
agreement between India and the IAEA.
