◆Modi government rescued 3,500 Indians from war zone Yemen




【Bhopal】India is executing one of the most challenging rescue operations in strife-torn Yemen, pulling out its own and citizens from at least 26 other countries.
 On the 6th of April, India evacuated over 1,000 (574 from Sana'a by air and 479 from Al Hodeida by sea) executing a sophisticated air-sea operation showcasing its maritime power. Until now, India has evacuated over 3,500 of its nationals and 225 citizens of at least 26 countries in a rare gesture.
 US, besides economically developed France, Germany and Sweden, besides 22 nations have sought India's assistance to evacuate its citizens from violence hit Yemen.
 Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the 9th of April said India's rescue operation in Yemen has been "creditable". "Whatever has happened in Yemen, I think it is India's one of the biggest achievements so far. Besides Indians, we have rescued people of 32 other nations," Jaitley said while addressing the two-day Madhya Pradesh BJP's state executive meeting.

【United Nations】India has been elected to four key subsidiary bodies of the United Nations' agency on economic and social issues, continuing its impressive record of winning elections at the world body.
 On the 8th of April, it was elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Programme, the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) and the Governing Council of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
 With the election wins, India maintained its 100 per cent record of winning elections held in the UN Headquarters here.
