○Great Mughal's capital gears up for an 1,800-cr royal revamp

【New Delhi】Delhi's Shahjahanabad area is being readied for a major revamp. The Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Board (SRDC) has brought in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a comprehensive revitalisation programme for the Walled City. The detailed plan is being studied by top officials of the Delhi government, but sources report that it is likely to be approved and implemented in the months to follow.
The proposal identifies various challenges in the Walled City and an action plan on how to address each challenge. "With the Walled City under consideration for a UNESCO world heritage tag, it became imperative that revitalisation programme kickstarts at the earliest," said an official. The project will cost an estimated Rs 1,830 crore which will be funded by ADB.
