◆India ready for operation against ISIS if UN adopts resolution




【New Delhi】India on December 16 said it can undertake operations against the ISIS terror group under a UN flag if the global body adopts a resolution in this regard.
 Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, who has returned after a crucial meeting with his US counterpart Ashton Carter in Washington, also said that India has been sharing intelligence on the ISIS and it will be enhanced.

【New Delhi】Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on December 16 the US has expressed concern over terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
 Asked about the US reaction to India raising the issue of terrorism from Pakistan, the minister said: "The reaction was good and concerns were expressed." The minister was talking to reporters after laying wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti (the flame of the immortal warrior) at India Gate on Vijay Diwas, which marks India's military victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to creation of Bangladesh. Parrikar visited US last week, and met US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter.

○Indian Oil Corporation marketing manager arrested for ISIS links




【Jaipur】A senior official of state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was today(Dec 16, 2015) arrested for alleged links with terror organisation ISIS, police said.
 The Special Operation Group (SOG) and Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Rajasthan Police arrested Mohd Sirazudin, the marketing manager of IOC here. "Sirazudin, hailing from Gulbarga in Karnataka,... was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for his alleged involvement in (activities of) international terrorist organisation ISIS, supplying official inputs and recruiting organisation members in the country," Alok Tripathi, Additional Director General of Police (ATS and SOG), said here. "The accused was also active in flaring up and encouraging Muslim youths for (joining) ISIS activities," Tripathi said.

○Pak unaware of inclusion in Saudi led 34-nation military bloc




【Islamabad】Pakistan found itself in the cross hairs of Middle East politics after Saudi Arabia included it in a 34-nation military coalition of Muslim countries to combat terrorism without getting Islamabad's consent, media reports said today (Dec 16, 2015).
 In a statement yesterday, the Saudi government surprised many countries by announcing that it had forged a military coalition of 34 nations to fight terrorism with a joint operations center based in the kingdom's capital, Riyadh.
 Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said he was surprised to read the news that Saudi Arabia had named Pakistan as part of the alliance, the Dawn reported. Chaudhry said he had asked the country's ambassador in Riyadh to get a clarification from Saudi Arabia on the matter. Another senior official also confirmed that Pakistan was not consulted before inclusion in the alliance.
