【New Delhi】Ministers in the Narendra Modi government today vowed to work for the country's development and welfare of the poor.
"The government will work for development and welfare of the poor, and under Modi's leadership it will take the country's GDP above 8 per cent," Cabinet minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping and former BJP president Nitin Jairam Gadkari said.

【New Delhi】There are seven women ministers including six with Cabinet rank in the 45-member Council of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Smriti Zubin Irani, the youngest member in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Council of Ministers, witnessed a meteoric rise in her career on Monday since she began searching her future in showbiz starting as a model in mid-90s and later joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2003. Najma Heptulla, the lone Muslim face, has also been given Cabinet rank. Meanwhile, when the UPA government was sworn in, there were 80 ministers including nine women.
