◆Next stop Tehran: Delhi steps up talks with Iran for $5-bn railway export plan
【New Delhi】Even as New Delhi keeps a close watch on the recent unrest in Iraq, it is expediting talks with Tehran for over $5-billion worth project exports from India to Iran’s railway sector.
 Official sources told FE that Tehran has agreed to seek lines of credit (LoC) from the Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) in rupee for financing such railway project exports (of relatively long term in nature) from India to Iran. India had given Iran the option of choosing either using the rupee payment mechanism or the LoC.
 The Iranian government, according to reports, is planning to expand the country’s railway network annually by 500-1,000 km to ensure it touches 25,000 km by 2025 from around 13,000 km now.
○AP to get new railway zone
【Visakhapatnam】Andhra Pradesh would get a new railway zone though the location is yet to be decided, said urban development and parliamentary affairs minister Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu.
 Speaking to reporters here today, he said some sections had requested it to be headquartered at Vijayawada while others wanted Visakhapatnam. The central government would take a final call on this, he added.

【Hyderabad】Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd to bring about changes in the metro alignment in two congested zones and at locations passing close to heritage sites.
 He suggested that the elevated metro project should consider realigning the design and take underground lines, while passing through such busy corridors.
○Kerala seeks viability funding for Vizhinjam project
【Thiruvananthapuram】Kerala has requested the Centre for approval of viability gap funding for the multi-thousand crore Vizhinjam international sea port and container transhipment terminal project near here.
 Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking personal intervention in the matter.
