◆Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit stressed Nepal-China relations




【Kathmandu】Visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi on September 10 held meetings with Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Co-chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and NC's senior leader Ramchandra Paudel, prior to his return.
 Speaking to journalists after his meeting with Minister Wang at a five-star hotel, Dahal said the two leaders discussed how Nepal-China relations could be strengthened in the changed context. "We discussed expectations from China and its people by Nepal in its development endeavour," said Dahal. "We also dwelt on expanding cooperation between the two governments, and upcoming Nepal visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping." Dahal said he was hopeful of stronger Nepal-China relations in the days to come. "I am confident Chinese cooperation in Nepal's economic development will increase in terms of quantity and quality," said the senior NCP leader. Expressing his commitment to 'One-China Policy' Dahal congratulated the CPC and President Xi for rapid economic growth and modernisation of China over a short time span.
 Minister Wang said China was Nepal's all-weather friend and that the Chinese government was positive in extending its supports towards fulfilling aspirations of Nepali people. "Nepal has witnessed political stability under the NCP-led government. Political stability is the foundation of development,"Dahal's secretariat quoted Wang as saying.
 Wang's meeting with Deuba and Paudel dwelt on strengthening party-to-party relations and connectivity. "Our discussion mainly dwelt on boosting economic partnership and connectivity between the two countries," Paudel told THT. According to Paudel, Wang assured that President Xi would visit Nepal soon.
 Minister Wang called on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Yesterday, after holding delegation-level bilateral talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali. He left for China at around 1:00pm.
