◆Bengal secured investment of over Rs. 250,000 cr: Mamata




【Kolkata】Speaking at the concluding day of the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit on the 9th of January, the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee said, "West Bengal has secured investments commitments to the tune of at least Rs. 250,104 crore."
 According to Banerjee, the discussions were on for further investments in the State and the State has not considered Central government projects and proposals to the tune of Rs. 50,000 crore that are currently proposed or are underway. Bengal has set its sight on grabbing the No. 1 spot in industrial investment.

【Kolkata】Asserting that West Bengal has capability and readiness to take on bigger and greater business challenges with an aim to fulfill aspirations, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the 8th of January said more investments will lead to greater revenues, jobs, more manufacturing power and better infrastructure.

【Kolkata】Reliance Industries (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday recommended West Bengal as an ideal destination for investment. Addressing the Bengal Global Business Summit, Ambani said the state ranks high in the ease of doing business.
 RIL, through its telecom arm Reliance Jio, has already invested Rs 5,000 crore in the state for developing the digital broadband network and over the next 24 months it would connect all rural and urban schools, 2,800 colleges of the states and all hospitals at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels with optical fibre network.
 Telecom, urban and social infrastructure, IT, hotel, food processing, roads and logistics were some of the prominent areas of investment promised in West Bengal on the first day of the Bengal Global Business Summit.
